Recap of Trend Workshop #1

Last night, ES conducted our first ever Trend Workshop! It was a big success and is something we're planning on doing quarterly. The process of researching and collecting the trends was extremely educational and the workshop was a lot of fun. Attendees were engaged and I think that the trends challenged some of their preconceived notions of consumer behavior.

We looked at hundreds of trends from different sources, filtered them down to the 12 most intriguing, then analyzed and discussed the implications of the trend and whether it was an opportunity or a threat for our attendees. Here's an action shot, discussing our trend titled "Click and Mortar" which details the importance of business having both an online and physical presence.

Here's one of my favorite slides, detailing how we selected the trends that we wanted to discuss. It's a little sloppy, but the design is supposed to be reminiscent of the classic marketing funnel with Awareness-Consideration-Conversion layers replaced with our trend curation process.

For this first workshop, we analyzed trends that were reported by our various sources. For future workshops, we're going to try to organically create trends on our own, by saving articles on a daily basis and trying to create our own trends organically. It should be a fun process and we're excited to see the results in August when we present our Q3 Trends report. Stay tuned!
